Eversons Panama & Costa Rica Cruise 1/13

A trip to Panama and Costa Rica is more than just a vacation. Cruisers experience history as they sail through the Panama Canal, watching the massive gates open and close and water levels change. Beach lovers can treat themselves to tanning, swimming, and snorkeling on one of the many tiny islands as long as they don’t mind sharing the sand with tiny crabs that tickle the toes. Plant enthusiasts can immerse themselves in lush forests of palm trees, ferns, strangler figs, orchids, and bromeliads. Nearly every tree hosts several other plants. Roots fall down from the treetops while twisted vines climb the trunks. Finally, wildlife seekers have a chance to see magnificent birds, such as scarlet macaws and toucans, monkeys, sloths, and the amazing leaf-cutter ants. We saw bright blue butterflies as big as a hand, marveled at bugs that looked exactly like leaves, and even had hummingbirds land on our fingers. Rain forest life isn’t easy to see and is even more difficult to photograph, but the patient visitor—with a little luck—will leave smiling and thrilled with his experience in “the jungle”.
